| Beller-Jenkins Cemetery commemoration April 29th |
|
There will be a commemoration day at the Beller-Jenkins Cemetery on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Anyone with ancestors buried in this historic cemetery should attend and see what a wonderful job Robert Campbell has done to restore this cemetery - a cemetery that had long been neglected.
Boone County's historic Beller-Jenkins Cemetery, where the Mountain Meadows wagon train formed before they left on their ill-fated journey, has recently been cleaned up, its fence repaired, grave sites filled and stones straightened, all led by one man - Robert Campbell. This was a big job for one individual, and it looks so very nice now. |
| Over the years, the cemetery had become horribly grown up. The Historical Society had worked on the cemetery over a year ago, and only had less than 1/4 of it cleaned. However, Robert took it upon himself, worked for a long time, and finished the job. Bill Casey and Teresa Casey also helped in the efforts. |
| For those with ancestors buried in the Beller-Jenkins Cemetery, this is indeed good news. A perpetual care fund has also been set up for this cemetery. Contact the Boone County Historical & Railroad Society for more information. (Photograph by Dwain Lair) |
