January-March 2007
The museum is now observing 'Summer Hours', which began March 1st. We are looking forward to a great year with many new things happening. AND, we did get on the National Register of Historic Places!
Hopefully this will open up new avenues of financial help. Improvements to the building are always needed - some small things, some much larger. A great deal of thanks to Nita Gould for all her hard work to get us listed on the Register! We appreciate her interest in the history of Boone County and her faithful work for the museum. |
You will see new faces when you visit the museum, as we have several new volunteers, but we can certainly use more. If you have a few hours a week to spare, perhaps you could join the crew at the museum. As donations of artifacts continue, it requires more help, so you are needed!
Thanks to Clark Selby, the museum now houses a wonderful display from the Duncan Industries, local manufacturer of parking meters. Housed on the 2nd floor, this display of parking meters and other memorabilia is a real eye-catcher.
No place will be more beautiful than the Ozarks this Spring, when the redbud and dogwoods begin to bloom. Stop by the museum for a visit when you are in the area.
You still may have time to submit your family history for the Boone County, Arkansas Family History Book, Volume II to be published this year. The second deadline is set for March 31st, but hopefully it will be extended for one more month.
In closing I want to remind you that if you haven't paid your 2007 dues, please do so now. Memberships in the Historical Society play an important part in the operation of the museum and publication of the Historian / Oak Leaves.
